What feeds your leadership drive?

To be a strong leader, you need a strong network of colleagues, peers you trust as your go-to sounding board when you're working hard to wrap your head around a problem.

When you invest the time it takes to nurture these valuable relationships, your network becomes a source of inspiration, a way to recharge when you're feeling stuck, an outlet to vent steam or share a much needed laugh after "one of those days."

Reading through the recently released Statewide Capacity Collaborative's Washington State Leadership Scan got me thinking about an important question we all need to pause and ask ourselves:

How do you like to learn as a leader?

Do you learn through small group interactions, like our Martini Monday break-out session? Do you learn through experts teaching in a classroom setting, like our Essentials, Leading Edge and/or Igniting Philanthropy series? Do you learn through reading or journaling?

If you don't know the answer (yet), figure it out and take the time to build your go-to "tribe." There's no perfect model for leadership. So be ready to embrace the messy prospect of making mistakes. Be open and vulnerable - don't fear failure. Seize opportunities to take risks, and never stop asking yourself:

What feeds your leadership drive?

Don't miss the Forum

Can you believe it? Our first annual Forum on Strategic Fundraising is less than a month away! Join hundreds and hundreds of your brilliant colleagues June 16-17 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle. Learn from sought-after thought leaders in fundraising, choose from a fantastic variety of workshops and make new connections with fundraising and nonprofit professionals from across the region.

This will be our only major
professional development event of 2016.

Check out the full program.

Members $385 | Non-members $485

Get the most out of the Forum by joining us for both days. If you can't make it to both days, join us for one. Single-day rates are $215 for members and $265 for non-members.

It pays to be an AFP Advancement Northwest member. You'll get a $100 member discount if you attend both days of the Forum. Those savings alone add up to one-third of the annual dues that most AFP members pay!
